What was the inspiration for Tony van de Vorst to make this sculpture?

Tony van de Vorst was initially inspired by Japanese women for her Eastern Bride because of their hairstyles. In the end, Chinese movie star Gong Li became the inspiration for this sculpture. According to Tony, her face had the right personality and melancholic expression. Tony van de Vorst is fascinated by the Far East because of the very different way of life there. In her work, she contemplates the human spirit, tranquility and meditation.
