Pieke Bergmans, DNNA, 2015, glass installation on steel table

This work is called DNNA because it contains the DNA of NN Group, as the artist let herself be inspired by the NN Group values (care, clear, commit) and the orange of the NN logo. Glass art is a unique part of our collection. Do you know why we started collecting glass?

Sam Jonker, one of the members of the Board of Directors of Nationale-Nederlanden in 1991, was a collector of glass art and the driving force behind the purchase of glass for the NN Art Collection. He commissioned some Czech glass artists to make art works for the new Delftse Poort office of Nationale-Nederlanden in Rotterdam, and purchased glass objects from the famous Dutch glass artist Andries Copier for the entrance hall in The Hague. Some of the commissioned glass objects are now in the collection of the Kunstmuseum, but glass art is still an important part of our collection. This work by Dutch artist Pieke Bergmans was specially made in 2015 for the opening of the new headquarters in The Hague.
